Is the campuscard secure?

Yes, the campuscards are Mifare DESfire EV1 cards. Unauthorized persons cannot read the campuscard due to the AES encryption.

How do I keep my campuscard?

Card defects can be avoided by careful handling of your campus card. To avoid damaging your card, we recommend:

  • protect against dirt and scratches
  • do not bend or subject to strong pressure
  • protect against extreme temperature differences
  • keep away from magnetic fields

In order to reduce abrasion of the VBB semester ticket imprint, we expressly recommend storing the campuscard in a protective cover.

What happens if I lose my campuscard or my card is defective?

You must apply for a follow-up card at the Registrar's Office. After the replacement fee has been instructed, you will be provided with a new QR code via your account in HIS, which you can use to create your new campuscard at the dispensers.

How does the QR-Code work?

The QR-Code is anonymous and contains a random, unique sequence of numbers. To do this, the code must either be printed out or held on the screen of a mobile device at a distance of around 25 cm from the machine. The code can only be used once and is invalid after the campuscard has been issued

How does the Mensa app work on the campuscard?
