Vending machines
To create your campuscard, you need your QR code, which can be used once. You can use this code to create the campuscard at an issuing machine. Creating the campuscard takes about a minute.
After reading the QR code, you can decide for yourself whether you want your campuscard to be made with or without a photo. In the case of tickets without a photo, a personal document with a photo must always be carried with you in order to use the VBB semester ticket.
Please do not insert any cards into these machines!
Updating machines
Your campuscard must be provided with the VBB semester ticket and the validity at an update machine.
This update process must be carried out every semester in order to bring the information on the back of the campuscard up to date. The current and, if applicable, the following semester is displayed in the maximum of two lines. The validity of the semester tickets is shown on the right.
Please do not put cards with photos or paper on them, for example! In the event of improper use, you are liable for damage to the machine.

What functions does the campuscard have?
How does the QR-Code work?
How does the Mensa app work on the campuscard?
The campuscard includes a fully-fledged canteen card from the Berliner Studierendenwerk. This can be used like a separate canteen card. The anonymity of the information is secured by technical and organizational steps. The Berliner Studentenwerk only knows the canteen card number and the universities have no access to the content of the app.
Can I use the campuscard as a VBB semester ticket?
Since the summer semester 2019, the semester ticket printed on your campuscard has included the statistical tariff abbreviation of the Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg. Only information about the area of validity of the semester ticket (ZB), the issuing university or college (number with code) is stored in the tariff abbreviation. No personal data is stored. The tariff abbreviation is identical on all cards of the respective university/college.

In order to ensure a timely and correct allocation of your payment to your fee account, please note the following:
- only use the specified purpose
- Please note that depending on the bank, it can take between 2 to 4 working days for the payment to arrive
Is my semester ticket also valid outside the ABC tariff area?
Is my semester ticket also valid outside the ABC tariff area?
The semester ticket can be extended with an additional ticket if students live permanently in the VBB tariff area outside the ABC tariff zone during their studies and can prove this (identity card). The regulations of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU) and the Freie Universität Berlin (FU) apply to Charité students.
